When I get served chili with beans I smother it in cheese and hopefully fritos and pretend it's frito pie. No fritos, kill it with saltine crackers.

I actually have studied how to make Texas chili from scratch. I have even purchased the dried chili peppers, masa and other authentic ingredients. Normally I just use spices off the rack, Badia brand preferably. I have the Chuck roast in the freezer too. If we get another cold snap I will give it a go. Lots of good youtube vids on how it's done in Texas.
BTW if you want a good hot sauce that is actually hot try Badia Habanero Hot Sauce, it is the best and it's cheap. Badia products in general are better and cheaper than the competition.
