Taking a break from the work bench. I have a bad habit of doing projects and just leaving the garbage on the bench.

So I have state insurance now. My employer has a continuation coverage plan. (For medical insurance). The weekly rate is just under 500 bills a week. A WEEK!! I told them thanks but no if I could swing that kinda money I wouldn’t need it when the time comes. Knock wood I never will. But still. That’s embarrassing to even think about asking that from a blue collar guy like me.

Anyways I think a new vise will be on my agenda. Courtesy of harbor freight of course.

Employer plans, post employment are never a bargain. They really don't want you on their plan anymore. Here it's called COBRA, and it's not cheap either.

yep same name.
I’m already set.
I guess they’re required by law to offer it but the sky is the limit on what they charge. Your right. They put the price out of reach on purpose. No doubt.

...
Best deal I got in my airline career was an early retirement package that included my company insurance (think it was around $100/month for just me) to age 65. Three years of bridge insurance was a huge bonus. If I'd kept working to 65, the first year compared to my severance package would have been under $5/hr. By the second year I would have been on Delta's payroll at around $10/hr higher, but the money I made those extra three years would have been like working as a burger flipper. Never regretted retiring early.

I got one of those dust separators at Home Depot that hooks up between the vac and pickup hose. Tried it out on some sawdust and none reached the vacuum filter, actually works good. Haven't tried it on plaster dust yet, and that's what I got it for, hope it works as good with that.
