Hello gang im new here i was intrested to know if anyone within the forum have experienced 3rd gear issues with the m8 6 speed my fxbb lost 3rd today with 300 miles on it any insite would be greatly appreciated...ride safe its a crazy world out there!!!

 

Is your bike stock? I've read about a few but they were modified. From what I've read its been 3rd gear and some blame it on not being hardened properly. That theory makes you wonder why its always 3rd gear? The other theory is that third gear is in the middle of the shaft and under load the shaft flexes just enough that the gears don't mesh as they should and boom...shrapnel in your tranny case. My very unprofessional opinion is its a combo of both things happening. I think theres quite a bit of gears that weren't hardened right but they're only a problem when the "perfect storm" happens. Can't be a widespread problem because you don't see it alot on the forums and there's alot of people running some serious power on the m8. Just my .02
