TOAK, The Thread of All Knowledge Part XIII
Yeah, that's the oem replacement. I want maintenance free and no acid leaks. All my vintage bikes have rust under the battery vent.
Drain hoses are a wonderful thing. You could try a lithium ion but I’m not sure a vintage charging system would be the best thing for it.
Indeed.
I managed to find a "MotoBatt" in glass mat for $40 that is a direct replacement. It has wires instead of terminals which is annoying. But I can make an adapter. Or just cut the ring terminals off and add bullet connectors.

Update to the Update....apparently Fakebook is screwed up. Son talked to guy, he's going to see it at noon...so who knows maybe my luck is changing...
Sorry, Al, hope ya know this isn't about you or your son.

I’d be concerned about the wire gauge coming out of the battery. So no one makes a top post 6v battery anymore that doesn’t have wires or slip on terminals? They all look like they are used for alarm backup batteries.
Al I hope your son doesn't wake up in a bathtub full of ice missing his kidneys. Predators sometimes pray on people looking for good deals on boats.
Lou, there have been a bunch of ads on Craigs lately. $20,000+ bass boats for around $1,500 . All posted by various named women.....Think it's a scam?
I wasn't wild about the idea either. But it's kick only and the main positive cable looks like 16 gauge, so I "think" I'll be alright. I'll replace the tail light with LED and the headlight is minimal draw. It's gotta be damn near worthless at night. I had a 67 that I sold last Fall and I used what I figured was a backup battery on that one. It had spade terminals which I was very unsure about. But it worked.
