I can just hear the previous owners words , “ I wonder where all this grease is going?, I’ve been pumping it into this zerk for 10 minutes and it’s still not full “.

But it sure quieted down the brake squeal.

I’m not a fan of greasing wheel bearings that way. Repaired too many spindles because of the grease not getting to the front bearing.

Always put a blob of grease in my hand and push it through the cage. Properly greased a wheel bearing will last a long time between services.

Going to take a lot of cleaning to get the grease out of the shoes. I'd replace the shoes and sometimes it's cheaper to replace the whole assembled backing plate. Less hassle as well.

Morning Tim.

Just got back from Lowe's. Bought the last 2x2. Had to buy a fancy redwood 2x2 to get what I needed. Windy and cool here. Only supposed to be 81 today.

I agree. Whole assembly up here is around $70. Maybe $130 with the drum.
New shoes, new magnet, new drum...
So thats about $19.99 US.

Sitting, drinking Weak coffee and Blarneys. Waiting for the grocery store to open so I can get breakfast going. Wife is still sleeping anyways.

Lou, I ordered all new linings and when they arrived, they were wrong ( didn’t have self adjuster mounting provisions) . I returned them and told the manufacturer, they need to note this important detail. The driver side axles are done and now I’m stuck rehabbing these.
