Morning Lou. Yes those cork gaskets are a PITA to get off. Razor blade scraper can help.

These are the brown paper ones. Worse than cork. Can't use a razor because it will dig into the aluminum. A sharp small screwdriver is the tool. A time consuming task. Then have to clean all the ports. One little piece left behind will screw everything up. Holley now has nice blue gaskets.

Lou, did you try soaking them in water overnight, might soften up that paper.

Holley bodies are made from zinc, worse than aluminum. The little raised sealing edges makes things even worse.

You just have to be really careful not to dig into the aluminum. A nice phenolic scraper would be handy.

Never saw those. Confused on how they work. Use it like a sanding block? Do they make a sharp edged one line a razor scraper. Didn't see them on Amazon but did find the retractable razor type scraper that uses plastic blades...may have to buy one....just because.
