Some of the lakes up there are brown water, but super clean. The brown water comes from all the iron.

Manitowoc and Oconomowoc have been blessed with my presence however I cannot speak about the others ... but I have spent the night at the Barbi Ann Motel in Algoma ( won't do that again ) while waiting for the morning ferry out of Manitowoc ... It gets quite "beery" in Algoma :<(
