TOAK, The Thread of All Knowledge Part XIII
Well I bid on a few things at an estate sale and won 2 belt Sanders ( I bid on them separately). My Porter Cable one is going bad. Lucky me they both work! $42 for both and also got this old 1/4 drill that I will never use.
My dad was a Porter Cable fan ... He had several pieces that were out of metal / cast ... weighed a ton but were real work horses
I had mine for 20 years and stripped it down several times. It's been due for replacement for a while. New ones are more than I want to pay. Happy to have 2 now.

Mornin y'all. Bit short on sleep but at least the coffee's good this morning. Plenty of white stuf on the street, but it ain't sn*w, wasn't enuf of that to melt the damne s*lt.
You people... how come when someone says "people", some people think it just means their special kind of people? American English, the language that can turn any word into an insult.
Friend of mine lost his mother 3 or 4 days ago, he was home recovering from surgery and she got a new wheelchair. Another family member found her on the floor with the chair on her, hadn't been adjusted for her and somehow tipped forward. Don't know what actually killed her, didn't want to ask him that question. He said a lawyer will be consulted, and I'd bet just about any lawyer will say "sue the bastards" regardless if something was their fault. He feels bad that he was't able to be there when she got the new chair, but who knows if that would have made a difference.

Morning Mike! Sorry to hear of your friend's Mom's passing. Folks always have some regrets at a time like this, but geez..............
Playing the what if game is a bad deal, but I guess it is human nature. Been there done that.

Lou, I have a 70's Craftsman 3/8" drill, all metal case, that I stripped down several years ago and except for some black on the commutator, was still like new inside. Had a 6' cord that was a pita to store, but still not long enough for many jobs, so I cut it down to about a foot long while the drill was apart. Never regretted it. I still use it sometimes for metal, when I want to use a larger drill bit and go real slow, it'll take a lot of pressure at creep rpm. Tools were made to last when I was a young lad.
Lou, that top sander looks like the Makita I have. Had it for years and used it a lot. Good tool.

That's the truth, Larry, especially in this age. Tried to raise my kids with the understanding that if they screw up, own it and learn from it. It will not kill you to say " It was my fault"
