Peacock Bass are a South American fish that was introduced to South Florida in the early '80's as an experiment. The only 2 counties they thrived in were Dade and Broward. Can't go North of that. Hell, they've been killed off several times by cold fronts, but come back...I know the lake they were first introduced too. I was near MIA....
They're a fresh water fish that fights like a salt water fish....I caught this 9 lb'er near Flamingo and Stirling Rd....great fun on light tackle.....

Not actually an invasive species Jose, they were purposefully introduced to the Florida ecosystem....

First week I was in Florida I hooked a 40 lb Tarpon, like Jose said in a small closed in Pond. He jumped 3 times and broke me off. Was the most amazing thing I had ever seen. I wasn't expecting a Tarpon in that little pond. Damn near **** my pants, LMAO...

I think it's the only introduced species we have that isn't considered a nuisance. I'm in a fishing mood now.
