Yea, I was thinking of that but wood not use it enough to get good.
Guy that gave me some welding pointers when I got started had me weld pop cans together (steel back then) with a stick welder, and then with mig. I hated that, barely enough current to arc with the stick welder, but it did teach control, do it almost perfect or it wouldn't do it at all. I blew a lot of holes in pop cans before I succeeded. I have a cheap little flux core welder that either I haven't figured out well enough or it's just crappy, but welding with it means some grinding and polishing, too. Plus it slags and splatters a bit, although I don't think it's as bad as a stick. I'm tempted to get a cheap stick welder, though, easier for quick little jobs, almost no setup, and when I knocked the slag and berries off, my stick welds never needed grinding. That was years ago, don't know if I'm steady enough for that now.

Hope we don't get that here before the weekend, have a truck and trailer load of wood to take to my daughter's place.
Been following a Dutch girl on Youtube that's trying to ride a bike from Patagonia to Alaska. 400cc Royal Enfield. Shipped it to Buenos Ares, first day out dropped it in mud, then got a flat tire miles from anywhere on a dirt road. Took her 2 1/2 hours to change it, not bad for a lady with little experience doing that. Her second multi-national trip, spent most of this year riding from India to the Netherlands, via Iran. A lone blue eyed blonde riding through the back roads of Iran, hell, I wouldn't try that. Today she's stuck in a town for a week, lost the license plate and was told it'll take that long to get a replacement from the Netherlands. Hell of a first week for a ride that will take months if she makes it. I'm wondering how an Indian built bike will hold up, a Canadian that's doing round trip starting the other direction from Alaska has had lots of mechanical problems on an Africa Twin, one of the top rated dual purpose bikes. I'd like to see a young lady do this on the Harley dual purpose model, would be great advertising for Harley. If it made it.
