Larry, I pick up stuff pretty quick. I struggled 15 yrs ago with welding, though. 95% of what i had to do was with sheetmetal. Let's just say that I gor very good at welding holes and grinding.Starting back into it ,yesterday, after 14 yrs away was very frustrating. This gas tank project is 100% sheetmetal work. Not to blame equipment but this welder may not be helping. It's a Lincoln Pro135 with only 4 click voltage settings. First one seems too low and second seems too high. I'll get it figured out before I actually have to build this tank, only because I'm a stubborn old Italian.....
4 clicks ... nope ... invest in infinite heat and wire speed settings ... you'll be showing off your welds in no time ;>)

yep, bought it 15 yrs ago. Probably only used it once since then to tack something. Not spending $800 for a new one for one job. Playing with both settings , "they" suggest using the higher one but the lower has much less chance of blowing through the metal. Probably won't be doing any real welding for a few months.
Apparently, I was unaware that today is National Drywaller Day Off Day so no one came to work. Guy said he had to “go pick up a check”. I told him he’d be a day closer to getting a check here if he came to work today.
