TOAK, The Thread of All Knowledge Part XIII
With HD, i find what I want on line, hit " text to my phone" and just go right to it without dealing with any of their people. Generally , I know more about what I want than they do....
Afternon Woodsnitzes. Back from Home Despot and Lowe's. HD did have any #4 THHN wire for the garage annex. Now it's hot as hell out there so I may have to postpone for some pool time.
I'd rather be shopping at HD right now. About to go stir crazy! I'm beginning to understand why Mark is so anxious to get home.
How the heck did they run out of that? Although I guess 100 amp services aren’t as common as they used to be.

Using metal or pvc ocnduit? Hope you don't have any tight corners with #4. Heaviest I've used in the house was #8, that heavy stuff ain't cheap.

A friend is riding out the hurricane in a harbor at Charleston, on a 43' catamaran. Said it wasn't bad till late morning, then the wind and waves really kicked up. This was around noon, video capture, doesn't show the water heaving in long swells, just the wave tops. He said it was starting to splash over the dock, haven't heard from him since. Nothing he can do for his boat at this time, I'd be out of there.
I'm going to run PVC conduit out there (if I have any left from my frame build), about 100' for two hots, a neutral and a ground. Ethernet for the camera and alarm wires too.

I got my current house in '89, first project was re-wiring the firetrap. Had a mix of greenfield with non-THHN soft plastic insulated wire, romex, and some assorted junk wire I wouldn't use in a shed. Some of the greenfield I bypassed or cut out, but I still ran a bunch of THHN. Had to remove some drywall in room corners, fools that installed the greenfield did some sharp 90 degree corners and split it, and of course anything you tried to put in it just went through the corner opening. Couldn't even pull it through tied to the original wire which was jammed so tight in a couple places I couldn't even pull it out by itself. But at least I'm not worried about fire hazard. I've had two new construction houses, and had to fix shorts and broken wires in both. Warranty? Yeah, could have, but I wanted it fixed right. It's amazing they can build houses and not even test to see if all the receptacles work.
