TOAK, The Thread of All Knowledge Part XIII
My Hump Day summary:
Tuesday they started giving me a heavy dose of an anti-inflammatory called Toradol . It really helps to deal with the pain due to the pressure from the fluid build up. Tuesday night, shortly after my 1100 meds I began sweating to the point I had to ask the nurse for dry linen & pillows & had to change my clothes. This morning I asked my nurse about the sweating and she said it was more likely due to the feverfrom the infection breaking. They did my morning vitals and everything was fine so they gave m more Toradol. About 30 minutes later the sweat starts pouring aga0n. It was so bad the tape from the IV's came loose. Again I asked about the side effects or possible interaction with other meds and was again only given "fever broke story. I asked once more and for my med dispersion for the past 2 days, but same answer and empty promise for the records.
After another chest Xray my attending physician decided to use a needle to drain it. They call it "Thoracentesis" All was went well until the end of the procedure. The pain I experienced was so overwhelming I was screaming at the top of my lungs...even after a morphine injection. Imagine someone sticking their hands in you rib cage then spreading their hands to spread your ribs apart. out. After that failed to relieve the pain, they gave me another objection, this time with Fentanyl, the pain subsided enough for them to run me through a CAT scan. To quote the doctor who perform the drain procedure "I don't see anything in the area w ere in that would cause hat pain" TF, really? He wasn't interested in finding the cause, just in exonerating himself. What a dick!
The upside is like my signature I should be for one helluva good run soon
