What's happening in Wisconsin? Get the driveway fixed?

 

No Greg. That's on hold for awhile. We had already started a fairly serious remodel of the 2nd level and our funds are dedicated towards that right now. That, and only two guys showed up to quote it. We weren't really satisfied with either option. And the thing is, the driveway itself has some life left. It's a retaining wall that buckled at a corner. It looks like hell, but I think I'll hire an excavator to saw cut the driveway (it's too wide anyway) and remove the excess and the retaining wall. Then bring in some fill and taper it into a hill instead of a drop off. Once we do that I think we'll get better quotes on the driveway only. Right now everyone wants to do the whole thing, landscaping and all and they want $30K+.

On wall placement - Cheryl actually came up with a pretty cool idea that we both agree on. We'll move the wall back where she wants it, but we'll move the column over and have an exposed steel beam, giving it a kind of industrial/modern look. Moving the column will allow us to put a larger sectional in the room and make the footprint much bigger. Win/win.
