Well just when you think you know everything, I learned something today.
Behind some of these plaster walls, they didn't use junction box covers. It appears you could have a junction box just about anywhere and they just filled the box with plaster like the rest of the wall lol.
I just about got a really big surprise when creating a spot for a new light switch box in the wall.

Oh what fun! In my last house I heard buzzing in the wall so i opened it up to investigate. Turned out the lights were hooked to the switch with a spliced in extension cord. The wires were starting to arc. So yeah, I get it. Electrical stuff is dicey at best I've found.
