TOAK, The Thread of All Knowledge Part XIII
Morning Mick! Where's my barstool?
Slowly. We've decided to do that level with wood floors, so gathering quotes. It's currently carpeting over concrete, so there are some challenges which = $$. Today we'll get all of the carpet and padding out (glued down), as well as remove the carpet strips. They somehow nailed them into concrete making them a major bitch to pull out. Based on lead times etc, this will be an 8 week ordeal. But the good news is, it will be done in time for the family to trash it on Thanksgiving.
Tim and Mick.
Good morning Bob. We have hard wood but I personally hate it. Out house is pier and beam, so despite the extra bracing and young age, it creaks in some spots.
Over concrete you can lay down a float layer and water barrier. I imagine it would be better on the slab.

Bob, several years ago, I did the same thing to my son's family room. I used the real wood manufactured interlocking flooring. It looks good and has held up extremely well with dogs. It doesn't have the same solid feel as full 3/4" nail down flooring but it's pretty close. Tons of options out there.

Give a man a plane ticket and he’ll fly for a day.
Push a man out of plane ... He’ll fly for the rest of his life.
