Manufacturer manuals often suck. Engineer speak doesn't go down well in print. I changed a lot of our manuals to logic speak that were approved by the tech writers, and one of the things we often did with a re-write was have a tech do the overhaul or fix just going by the rewrite, and it wasn't unusual for them to get it done hours quicker over going by the original manual. All those simplified logical progression manuals went away shortly before Delta bought the airline, thousands of hours of research and experience in the trash, back to engineer logic, part of the hire cheaper companies to do the work philosophy management decided on (FAA regulations pretty much prevented other companies using our in house manuals). Some of the things we'd worked out had increased service life from months to several years, those changes were worth millions. I'm really glad Delta bought the airline and I still have a pension.

After I got divorced, I had $2,200 left to my name and the kids were starting college. I purchased them each a new lap top for college and I had the big goose egg. Much better financially without the ex though. It's been about 15 years now and I am pretty well set going forward now.
Audrey started college the next year, and she really helped, worked all through college to help with expenses, and we managed somehow. When that expense was over, motorcycles on Craigslist became a daily reader. That was a bad habit, had to break it when there was no room left in the garage.

Well that's the big question isn't it? Anyone want to place bets on whether or not they even solved the problem? I'm betting they haven't.
So plan B will be to take it to an Indy and have them give it a listen. But I'm done paying people to tear into the motor on a guess.
Plan C - Ride it as is if no one can figure it out. Once warm it purrs like a kitten.
Plan D - If it gets too loud I'll look for a stock take out motor for $2500, do a swap, and maybe, maybe consider doing a bullet proof build on this motor i.e. strengthen bottom end, bump displacement, etc.
Plan E - Trade bike in on a Moto guzzi
Plan F - God only knows.....
