Buzz, I kinda started this in your post count thread but didn't want to derail it any further than it is. I have interviewed and hired hundreds, if not thousands, of salespeople and sales managers. At the very end of every interview I always said, a la Peter Falk as Columbo?, Hey, tell me again why you left your last company, employer, position, etc. and then just listened.

I was a manager, general manager and automobile dealership owner for many years.
As regards the question....what I mostly heard were predictable answers:
They didn't advertise enough, the managers didn't like me, I just didn't fit in, the others guys got the house deals, the owner/manager was a jerk. In your biz it's much the same, although with risk of being considered misogynistic, from the outside looking in the problem I see with the residential real estate industry is it allows people to be in it 'part time'. Horse hockey, who in hell wants to trust the largest transaction of their life to a 'part time' practitioner and worse, who in hell would hire them? I'll tell ya who....brokers who are so weak they're afraid both the deals these morons do each will be the difference in their success or failure. Don't mean to get on a rant but you asked.

What answer did I want to hear? Something along the line of I've researched your organization and I want to be a part of it. I've compared your organization's pay plan to my current one and I want to better myself, etc.

Well put my friend. Well put.

And you are 100% RIGHT abt the part timers. INSANE!!! And for the reason you are saying. Ohhhhhhhh, could I go on in this regard.

Only 2 1/2% of us can make enough money to be full time. Just 2 1/2% but EVERYONE will tell you they are a TOP PRODUCER. HOG CRAP!

When I was looking for property for myself out of my area, I was aghast at the VOLUME for laws broken by the agents I was working with. It was embarrassing.

For MANY years you did not even need a high school diploma or GED to get a real estate license. And BROKER did not and still do NOT have to sell 1 property NOT 1, to become a broker. THIS is mind blowing!!!!!!

Brokers can have ZERO experience and hire agents. Like you said my friend, to handle what is likely a persons largest assets they will ever have.

Sometimes it is embarrassing for me to be a broker.

Anyway.................thanks for the info. It was enjoyable to read.

I love it when intelligence is behind a post.

Unfortunately, there are no executive positions with this company..ergo...no openings for any. But...just yesterday we did need a shipping department clerk on a temp basis, but that job was quickly filled (I almost got proficient with a packing tape gun by the time I was finished)
