TOAK, The Thread of All Knowledge Part XIII
yep, sidewalk is in, curbs coming..maybe next week I can form and pour sidewalk to my steps, finally. Supervisor has been a great guy. We hit it off pretty good over Harleys, he has a few. He did a couple "favors" for me like widening the approach to my driveway and one next door by 4'. I had a 18" x 12" piece at end of my drive cracked where it meets the sidewalk. He cut an additional foot off my driveway and one next door and poured it. II saw what he smokes, So I sent my wife to store to buy a carton of his cigarette brand. She comes home and says " That was generous of you, they were $80". Told her that was cheap for what he did. The area between the sidewalk and curb is normally being backfilled with dirt and topsoil and grass planted. I told him not to do mine because I'm pouring concrete and putting pavers in. He says " Give me a line where you you'll start the concrete, I'll do modified gravel and prep it so all you have to do is pour the concrete".....well woth my $80.
Woke up 4:35am thought a pee and I'd go right back to sleep, but no, didn't. Sure feel better than yesturday, so I ain't complaining. Supposed to be a nice dry and cool day, think I'll do some outside activities today.
I'd happily write a check for this one today without even hinting at a lower price if it was legit and decent shape, but I know there's something fishy, not even going to bother checking it out.

Those curb machines are neat, got new ones with the re-paving my neighborhood got a few years ago. They finished the project in mid-fall, put sod down where they'd torn up the lawn fronts, and it went dormant before it really got established. Then road salt killed most of it and they had to re-sod in spring. The roads are much nicer to drive on when it's too cold to salt and just gets snow packed on the low traffic residential streets, but this county lets no road go unsalted. I wouldn't be surprised if that double sodding ran six figures, several truck loads of it.
Would't be surprised if it can be picked up at a motel. I looked at a Harley once that was at a motel. Great price, great condition, I wasn't even tempted. Even when the guy told me it was easy to apply for a lost title...
You know someone fell for it.
