Mike, I tried to compare this year's return to the prior year. My personal return is 30 pgs long and each company's is close to that. Income the past year was substantially higher than previous year. With the increase in personal deductions and a 20 % qualifying business deduction. Using the Tables for 2017 tax year, My taxes were almost 33% lower this year than what they would have been in the prior year. Believe me..it was NOT Nancy Pilosi's "crumbs"....Thank You ,President Trump.
Now that I can't claim deductions the only thing other than reporting income is my rmd. The state tax return is more complicated this year. I read somewhere that the tax savings don't really kick in till around the middle of middle class incomes for most people, except for the really poor that don't pay any income tax. That was me for 3 or 4 years when I first retired, after the usual built in deductions and the ones I couldn't claim this year, my agi wouldn't have paid for the house. I never got 6 figures on a tax return, but only missed it by less than $100 one year. That year on the 2018 return would have been less tax.
Girls & cars... Another memory buried for decades popped to the surface. In high school, I worked part time at a grocery store and a young lady fresh out of high school worked there, too. Redhead. Gorgeous, to me anyway, and a real sweety. Had a fuel injected Stingray convertible, forget the year, somewhere around '64. She was engaged, but noticed how much I liked that car, and took me for a ride in it one night after work. I wooda married her in a heartbeat.
Evenin Woods! Made my world famous Shake N' Bake chicken for dinner. OK, its not 'World' famous...or famous at all. OK, OK it's not even real Shake N' Bake, it's Kroger brand.
