TOAK, The Thread of All Knowledge Part XIII
One real good friend of mine works as a manager for a tire place. If a semi or trailer comes in with a tire that has 80lbs or less, they won't fill it. They have to break it off the rim to make sure nothing is damaged to the tire. I asked why, cause I didn't know. He said they don't know how long that tire has been running on low pressure which can break the cords. You fill it to pressure and it could blow on you.
I take it that they were also against using starting fluid to seat the bead as well. I dont do split rims but everything else is okay.
Good morning Woodsmeisters!!
In the high 20s and sunny. Supposed to be in the 40s the rest of the week. Can Spring be around the corner? Supposed to put my trike in a bike show this weekend. Hope the rain that's forecast takes some of the salt off the road.

I've never seen a tire blow...don't think I want to. ... thought comes into my mind every time I put air in a tire.

We used to have an old dump truck that was restricted to use in our developments. I think they had "split rims?" or something that the old timers said were really dangerous. A friend that had a trucking business would call and say " I took some tires and rims off that we can't use, they're on the junk pile come and get them"...never had to buy a tire.
