The part was machined to that engineering drawing. So I then use the same engineering drawing and compare what was actually made to what the engineer dreamed it should be. That drawing is akin to a CAD file. Same only different.
We get an hour more daylight on Sunday and then we get to give up something we like on Monday.12 more days until spring.

Interesting. How screwed up was it? After all, it was Engineered.
You just never know around here.
The part was made to print. Aerospace is going more and more to those types of engineering files and using a minimally dimensioned paper drawing. So assuming the STEP file is correct, we can directly compare that what we made is what was drawn. The machinists also use these files to make the part. In theory, everyone is on the same page, looking at the same dimensions and making and measuring the same part.
Sometimes it even works that way.
We have one guy that can’t seem to make a part to that picture, he has “better” ideas.
