There was one deputy sheriff that got on I-10 and he looked as surprised as I must have looked when I ran up on him at 85+ and slowed down at his door. I think he was too busy changing the colors of his keyboard to check his radar.

And me getting ready to toss him off a high bridge -

My dad took us out on a high pedestrian bridge over a huge gorge. He would grab our wrist and ankle and swing is over the railing. (Not letting go). But the lady at one end of the bridge thought otherwise and almost fainted, lol.

I will have memories of Nacogdoches to keep me company.

The untold part of this story, sorry for the wall of text, is when the blowout happened we were 5 miles out of the next town. On a Sunday about 11 AM. Russ rode ahead to see if there were any tow services. NADA.

He left Kristi behind to babysit. We weren't there 10 minutes and a guy going the other direction stopped. We explained Russ was scouting. Guy says "I live close, if nobody shows up in 20 minutes call me."

Hands us his card and leaves. Russ returns with the gloomy news. I call the guy and he didn't hesitate, said he would hook up his trailer and be right back.

We load the bike, Russ and Kristi say adios (with no verification he doesn't crave Fava beans and liver) and off We go. Takes me 30 miles to dealer in Nacogdoches, we unload and he drives me to a motel.

Tells me he will wait to make certain there is availability. I verify, go outside and get my grip. I offer him a benjie, he declines. I say at least let me buy you some diesel fuel. Nope.

He says..if you need a ride to the dealer Tuesday morning call me.

Don't know who was watching over us but somehow Michael Rimshaw of Nacogdoches, TX appeared and saved my ***.

I will be making a donation to a local Vet charity in his name.
