Original wiring in my house used these for hot: black, white, pink, red, orange, purple, green and two shades of blue. Not kidding, there was no way to check what wire was hot other than measuring it. I just ripped it out and replaced all the colors, no rainbows in my house, although removing the wires did get some nice sparkles.
