Chris,
My unsolicited opinion. "Save your dough and buy that CVO"
.
True story for what it is worth.
I have a cousin, sharp gal, amatuer/semi pro photographer. Does nice work.
Agreed to do her first wedding photo shoot.
Worked her butt off .......took a significant amount of pictures. Bride wasn't happy. "Nothing was right", even though the bride directed poses and content.
The word play went back and forth for weeks and finally to be done with it, my cousin took 50% of her price and walked away. Ya, she could have held out, but had enough.
Maybe you know these folks well, but my cousin went through a small hell trying to do someone a reasonably priced favor.
Your mileage may vary.

Of course this is always a risk and I certainly wouldn't buy more gear than the gig paid out. The question I am debating with myself is simply, a camera is an ecosystem of lenses. I can spend now and buy into the higher end ecosystem or buy for what I have now, at the lower end of the spectrum, and it not work with the new camera. Because I want to go mirrorless, the lenses are made for that system going forward. I couldn't get a lens for that camera and it work with what I have. IDK... I'll keep sleeping on it lol

I still have my Nikon D3200 that is 10 years old, 24 mp
Debated buying a new one, but for what I shoot it does fine, mostly shoot on Auto
Thye haven't really increased the MP in my range of camera, but other improvements

I took pics/video at 2 of my friend's weddings for free, they were not going to hire anyone
