TOAK, The Thread of All Knowledge Part XIII
We had a spot of drizzle this morning but nothing measurable. Looks like our total for the storm will stay at 2.96” whereas other parts of the megalopolis got 12”. I’m sure Kristi is disappointed but that’s how it goes.
Morning all, ended up with just less than 1" of rain
I bought my house & brought a sump pump to the closing, 2" of water in the basement
They said they could reschedule but it might take weeks to get approval to buy $70 sump pump (bank owned) smh
Since then, I ran a 4" pipe from the front of the house all the way out back for drainage, gutters (and sump pump) feed into this
I had to use a sawzall to cut thru the dirt & roots for about 25', pulled up "blocks" of grass/roots- total run was over 50'
I then put in plastic & draining rock against the house to direct water away from the house
Other side was easier - no trees, only ran 14' away to a drainage area that is being filled w/rock
Gutter screens also went in, and I bought Drylock to seal the basement walls
Its better, but basement floor is older & poured to low, so high water table at times & water comes up thru cracks
Would have to run a sump 24x7 for a long time to keep it below floor level
Cloudy today, so back to digging out the patio area & putting in the stone dust
