I was watching my neighbor remove a ss bolt yesterday from a pump housing and …… you guessed it, it broke. Cheap stainless.

Those cheap *** 15-5 or worse, 18-8 SST bolts are the worst.

The tally of iron bolts I snapped like twigs still outnumber the s/s bolts that twisted like a twizzler.
Clearly I could not afford the luxury or rust free components.

Anti-sleaze or Loctite works to help prevent the galling.

Cheap stainless is soft and stretches causing thread bind

It seems counterproductive to put anti seize on a locknut but I didn’t want six more broken bolts , so I used it on all of them.
