TOAK, The Thread of All Knowledge Part XIII
I'm having FUN!
Furnace DOA at 10:20 PM Sunday evening. 27 yr old Lennox Pulse. Great furnace. Too bad Lennox chose to quit making parts for them.
6 electric space heaters keep the house at approx 60*. Now I'm worried about my 60-70s era wiring. Stayed awake throughout Sunday night into Monday morning keeping an eye on temps and power draws. Maybe the SOB will burn down and solve the smaller problem.
With luck, the new furnace/AC unit will arrive at noon today and with more luck we'll maybe have heat before midnight.
To cap it off...... looked like RHEEM/ RUUD offers 48 month-no interest on the new unit purchase. Yayyyyyyyy.

Dealer says "Oh, we don't participate in those finance programs". Optional for the dealers. F**K me.

Not until the temp in the house is at least 68
Hi - Already committed to the order and shipping today before I understood he "doesn't offer the program"......plus.......Small town America and we have an otherwise technically excellent dealer.
I'd have to go 40 miles over, and then expect our local guy to do the follow up (that is IF dealer B even offers the program.) Likely not a good idea .....people have a way of sometimes "recapturing" income they feel they might have "lost".
Don't know if you've ever lived in a town less than 5000. Interesting dynamics at work.

It's my dang wife. She's not Icelandic. She feels strongly we need house heat in the winter ..... in Minnesota. Go figure ......
