Evening gents. Another day in paradise. The new hot water heater went out. Home warranty people said next wednesday. Great. Called Rheem because it was under warranty (should have called them first). Rheem warranty people said next wednesday. Christ! Oh.....and that was after they told me replacing the thermal couple wasn't the problem (as I already learned because I replaced it) - it's a defective thermostat controller. They'll send one out to me via Fed Ex, should get here, yup, next wednesday.
So faced with no showers for 5 days I was prepared to McGyver a fix. I armed myself with the water heater burner and my LP tank hose. Figured I would just direct feed that sumbitch via some adapters. Got to the store I bought the POS water heater from and low and behold, they actually had the thermostat thingamajig that screws into the side of the water heater. Naturally the Rheem website says "Should be installed by a trained technician". Jesus.....it's one 3/4 npt fitting on the back of the whole shebang - it's easier than replacing the friggen thermal couple. BUT - it doesn't have an ignitor for the pilot.
Fast forward to now - water heater is heating water - I have both thermostats connected - one to keep the %^&*$#ing pilot light on and the other one to light it.
I need a drink.

Evening, fellas.
Spent the day swapping cams, pushrods, and adding Rocker Lockers to the RGU. No major mistakes, yet.

Ahhhh finally a corned beef dinner! With all the trimmings…… I mean the veggies that go into the slow cooker with it. Saved the cabbage for last. 45 minutes for that took 9 hours total but gawdamn that was good.
