Mornin. No golf this morning. Being it’s -27° outside. +67 inside. Looks like it’s time to start looking for a new tv. Sometimes when I turn it on, no sound and the screen has a overlay of purple or lavender color. It’s ok if I turn it off then back on. It’s a Samsung 55 inch. Have been satisfied with Samsung. Think I want a 75” or 86”. What should I be looking for nowadays. Willing to spend up to 2 thousand but would be more comfortable closer to 1 thousand. So what to look for and what to stay away from?
Probably have a better image on any of the new ones if your old one is a 1080 model. I have a low end 75" 4K Samsung, image is better than the older 65", but you can't change much from what you have when you plug it in; the 65" Samsung had a lot of features lacking in my new one. An equivalent 75" would have cost at least $1000 more, and all I really wanted was the good picture anyway. I have a "dumb" 43" for my 'puter monitor, and I don't think I'd miss any of the smart features on my 75" if it was like that. Hook one up to a Roku or Firestick and I get all I need from a tv. I do miss having more outputs from the tv, the 75" only has one full function hdmi out, had 3 on the 65. And can't run the 75 through my surround sound system with an hdmi cable, it won't pass through 4K, would have to do a more complicated hookup with a fiber cable and use two remotes, didn't think that was worth the hassle, speakers on mine are as good as I've heard on a tv. I set up my 65" by myself with little effort, but I couldn't get my arms around the 75" enough, had to get help to put the screws in to mount it. Any bigger, and I probably wouldn't be able to handle the weight, either. A 75 will look huge after a 55, and a 4K will still have a better resolution image. Seems like a home theater instead of just a tv.
