TOAK, The Thread of All Knowledge Part XIII
I was more curious than anything. Like I said, I haven't had issues with mine. With sizes I can get the parts for next to nothing by talking to the right people. But even then, I don't know they get blank stainless. I have a chunk of 6160 aluminum to use too, but not something like a linkage.
I will not buy whatever that was that Al posted. Nope, no thanks. That's the kind of crap that leaves people stranded.

I've always bought the HD ones, I think I was paying $60-$80 but that was a number of years ago. They're probably made in China anyway.

The HD one I put on my Road King was.
Yeah, most HD accessories are made in China. I would skip the Harley tax and buy a no name one for a fraction of the cost. Which is what I did. At least for that item. The other stuff I bought I paid a premium for - mostly Performance Machine or S&S. But it was of good quality and made in the US.
I like both S&S and Performance Machine and toss in Roland Sands. Good stuff, very high quality. Better than HD by a decent margin. I have PM brake calipers on my Springer. Considering the brakes on my SG are Brembo those will never need to be replaced. Harley makes good engines. I'll leave it there.

You can check the thread on your current shift rod and buy heim joints to fit. Or check out Lowe's, Home Depot, Menards.... they have various sizes of rod, tubing, angle, flats, etc....they may have some stainless round bar. I'm thinking that 1/4" would be the size, but not sure. So you could get heim joints to fit original shaft (remember one is right hand thread and the other left hand thd
!) Or get what ever size rod you want and thread each end to fit whatever size joint you get!

I'm thinking I'm going to TRY to remove the plastic cup on my levers and powder coat those today. If that is unsuccessful, I will TRY to remove the headlight bezel and black it out. Ugh, Jesus take the wheel!
Good point Al.
