Jan 5th was the 91st anniversary of Bob Wills, Milton Brown, Durwood Brown and Herman Arnspiger’s very first radio broadcast as the famed Light Crust Doughboys on Ft. Worth’s KFJZ. They were sponsored by Saginaw’s Burris Mill and Elevator Company owned today by Ardent Mills. The two story building that still remains in front of the mill housed the Burris Mill recording studio where many records were recorded by the Doughboys and the Texas Playboys in the 30’s and 40’s including Bob Wills’ mega hit recording of the “New San Antonio Rose” in 1940 which sold a million records.
