Well gents, Tanya LT rode in to work. She got up the driveway but was scared to death. But she did it. The final left turn from our neighborhood onto the main Country Road is her biggest issue. That's where she fell the first time and even trucks hit the the ditch there.
We had comms in the helmet and I watched then heard, "Too wide too wide too wide!" She hit the grass but kept it straight and powered out of it. It's nit the turn, it's her mindset there. The vehicles come around a blind curve at 50 60 plus. No room to stop and you can't see. So, it's get on it and roll out, but that's where she's freaking out.
We got it, more practice is in order. Good thing though, the comms, I was able to talk her through curves, point out vehicles, and give her a much better understanding of his counter steering works.
She's doing okay, but she's nervous as hell.

Morning Stan and Larry!
Stan, the 944s are designed to be shorter shocks but with similar travel to the 444. I've never ridden on a bike that had them so I can't speak with authority, but there are mixed reviews. To me the primary reason for being is a low profile shock. Ride quality comes in second.
Sounds like classic target fixation. Look where you want to go - not where you don't. Happens to a lot of people - beginners and experienced alike.
