Evening gents!
Honestly, the sledge is the way to go on a cast iron tub. It essentially shatters, hence the danger. A Sawzall would take a long, long time. And there aren't many blades that like to cut ceramics. The ones that do don't like to cut iron.
When I did mine I just used some good eye protection and threw a sheet over the tub to keep stuff from flying. It worked pretty well. It's the small pieces of porcelain (or whatever it is) that you have to keep from flying around mainly.

Evening Greg and Mike!
Heard back from the potential future employer - still in the running. And from a friend that works for them - if this doesn't work, and I'm flexible on location, I'll likely get hired. Which means plan B would be Colorado Springs. Plan C would be Albuquerque.
Also, Cheryl's kid is, with any luck, moving to Boston next week. Fingers crossed on all of the above.

Yeah it works pretty well. Thin cotton or whatever. Nothing with any thickness or padding so as not to dampen the shock of the hammer. I soaked mine and rung it out so it clinged a little bit.

Thanks Stan and Greg - much appreciated.
My boss called me today. He's as done as I am. We're more friends than co-workers at this point. He told me he is putting out feelers for both of us to work elsewhere. He said he has a friend at another very well-known company and he's talking to him this weekend. Then he asked me how I felt about working for this company. Damn near fell off my chair because it's the very one I have been trying to get in with. And his friend is my friend who has been coaching me all along. I didn't know what to say but I'll fess up tomorrow.

Geesh, got wrapped in something and surprised to see it's tomorrow.
Good news, Bob, seems AZ is your first choice, hope that works out for you.
Forgot to mention earlier, was talking to Audrey (daughter) today, and happy to say I don't have to worry about her finances anymore - I mentioned back then the company she worked for got bought by a bigger one last spring and they laid off executive management for the one she was with, which included her. Since she didn't have a non compete in her contract, that's exactly what she did, started her own company, and that is now a success. I asked her if I could have a new pickup truck for Christmas next year, and she said, maybe in two years. Happy Dad, even if I don't get the truck.
Latest I can sleep tomorrow would be 8am, better get started on that.
