G'Morning, late arrivals. reading the instructions for resurfacing this bath tub. " blah blah blah....thoroughly sand the surface with the included sandpaper" . They give you one sheet of 220 grit paper. I sanded it yesterday and couldn't believe how hard this porcelain finish was. I had to use 3 discs of 60 grit on my orbital sander to scuff it to insure that I get good adhesion. Unlike the "professional" that did it last time. That's why I hate paying people to do stuff !

I hear you Al. I've had to learn how to do a great many things because so called professionals are usually all about the money and quality is well down the priority list. It's almost like they're doing to a favor by showing up at all. My recent remodel is a good example. Had a glass stair railing outfit come out. First the guy insults my house saying it's out of level. No **** a-hole - it was built into a hill in 1977. The foundation has settled years ago. Then he tells me he will only do work "to code" which means full railings on each side of the steps, which would make it impossible to move anything up them. That I kind of get because maybe they could be held liable. The point is he was unwilling to think outside the box. So I'm welding up my own railings. Same thing with the stairs. Guy wanted 15 grand to do prefab floating stairs. I did my own using much better materials for a fraction of that. And they will be here after the cockroaches take the earth back.

Cheryl's step-mom is having her bathroom remodeled. Not even down to the studs. Sixty grand! We did ours (down to the studs) and it cost me 3 grand.
