Stainless Service Six in .357, picked it for the simple fixed sights and the heavy build, they were designed for police work. Thought a semi auto was too vulnerable to damage carrying on a trail bike. Sure had skinny grips though, but that was easily fixed with fat Pachmayr grips. Not fancy, a working gun. My riding load was first two snake shot, two .38 and two .357 magnums for pickup trucks. Even though it had a sturdy build, it was light enough a .357 would sting, even with the fat Pachmayrs. My then wife and later daughter could handle 38s easily in it. Probably would have several more guns now if I'd stayed in AZ, but I rarely use the few I have in Minnesota, pretty limited where you can shoot around here, never got another one after leaving AZ. I'll admit there's some I'd like to have, though.

Water... in a Jeep, I'd be looking at a two gallon or more insulated jug packed half full with ice. A good one might stay cold 6 to 8 hours. Drinking 100 degree water is only when necessary. I'd stay away from Beer till I got home.

I would agree that if i was going to be in a dusty environment i'd carry a wheel gun. I have more than a few semi auto's but have been carrying a revolver lately, a Taurus 692 3 inch 357 seven shot. Keep hollow points in it. But if i'm gonna be in the desert i'll have my Bond Arms Snake Slayer with bird shot and a few defense round on stand by. Never know what you'll see other there.

And then you have MDF board.
Flake board can have pieces a couple inches long in it, particle board is ground up fine enough it almost looks solid, and it's heavier than either flakeboard or plywood, a 1/2" x4x8 sheet usually weighs over 80 lbs. I quit carrying a sheet under each arm a few years ago...

First half mile or so from a road, not unusual to find cars, couches, refridgerators, all kinds of stuff dumped, and often shot full of holes. Kind of disgusting. Over 30 years ago, be nice if folks have stopped doing that.

Most unusual encounter was a pair of boots crossing a few feet in front of my face with a reasonably attractive young lady in them. She landed close by and her parachute draped over a mesquite tree, that was one ruined parachute. She'd gotten way off course, and I stayed with her till the skydiving club (and ruined parachute) owner showed up in a pickup and gave her hell for the chute. I think the jump scared the hell out of her, had a deer in the headlights look and didn't talk to any of us.

Past bedtime, enjoyed the chat.

Well 7 hours is better than no hours. Been doing 8 regularly. Dawgs will bark soon as l get to the door. Then 3 hours til the wife makes it to the kitchen table. Or catch a few z’s before I leave the car.

Halito Woods, Toakers, Lurkers, Posers and Bill. If ya still up!! Quiet here this morning. I'm sorta with ya Bill.... I'm leaving the college mid to end of December. I told them I'd stay until end of term for kids, and maybe hang around if they needed some things done before next term. But gone at end of year latest. So I guess about 5-6 weeks or so. Like working with the kids, but my ole back has a difficult time with it.
Y'all have a good day. Be careful out there.... lurker out.....
