Evening Woods.
Well, we didn’t see much today. We did see two fresh kill areas and a few grouse. On the way back from our loop, I decided to take a shortcut down the power lines instead of taking a road. And that is when disaster hit. Driving along and then the front left tire sunk out of sight and we stopped dead. Throw it in 4 lock, reverse and hit the gas. All four tires spinning away. And nearly 150 yards from the road. We were also 100 yards from anything solid to winch out. Not to mention, 100 yards and only 50’ of cable doesn’t work well.
We tried to put logs under the left side, but it would not get on top. Called buddy who was working in the area and he drove us back to our truck. We raced back to town, picked up one of Zach’s buddy’s and grabbed dads rhino. We also grabbed 40’ feet a chain, the chainsaw and a few beer. We get back to my sxs, pulled the rhinos winch cable out, attached 40’ of chain and 15’ of tow strap. Start to winch out and the winch strips out. Well ****. So we grabbed the chainsaw, cut some logs to use to break the suction. That didn’t work well as the logs pushed deep into the bog.
Last resort before calling the big guns…back the old truck onto the power line, attach a chain to the rhino, which is attached to my sxs.
1. Hopefully we don’t sink the truck, even if it’s on some hard ish ground
2. burn out the clutch while doing so.
Even in 4 low, she was a good pull out. Luckily there were 3 of us.
Yup, quite the adventure today.
And the whiskey sure tasted good once we got home.

Its only 860’ between roads. I guess we were only about 85 yards from the road hahaha.
