I’m with Stan , if a call to C.S. At H-D didn’t produce any results, it’s time for a negative review campaign .
Re-morning gents! Back from exercising my arms. Got my monies worth today . Cheryl made me look bad and had a chance at an Eagle on the 9th hole. Won't say what she walked off with.
Here's yesterday's preoccupation -
Got the **** plastic siding off to reveal some authentic 70s era cedar -
Once that was off I found some "interesting" wiring -
That's an inside outlet and the main j-box for power in that level and the garage. That stub-up with l-fitting is to the garage.
And here is the end result -
Rumor has it that it was a garage when the house was built. But the existing garage looks very much like it was built at the same time as the house - same Lannon stone, same steel beam construction, same siding......so I'm not sure. But the way the first level is built it sure seems like it could have been a garage. No matter, it will go back to being the TV room. All that stuff in there is because we had to move stuff out of other rooms to do repairs.
Monday I'll source two Anderson sliding patio doors and put them side by side with a steel column in the middle. The idiots who did the wiring were even worse at understanding structure. They parked a big window under the main beams and then built a frame between the beams and the window. Which effectively meant they had no header over the window. So when the house settled recently, the window cracked due to the stress. Had they simply not put supports between the beams and window, it would have allowed for some movement. But as it was, they made the window frame a support member. Idiots. Hence my plan to put the steel column in. The beams are rated for the span, but the center post will prevent further settling, should that occur, and protect the new patio doors.

Good morning Morning Woods.
Recuperating on the couch after round 3. Still dealing with some issues but I reckon I'm glad to be here

Hey Tracy! Glad to see you! We were all worried.
Howdy Tracy ! Damn good to hear from you and glad you're on the mend. Sounds like you been to hell and back.
Thanks to all for the kind words and thoughts. Man these people have worn me out. Had to have the wires holding my sternum together removed. It wasn't healing because I had contracted a staff infection that is now in the bone. After the operation to remove the wires I basically had an open would in my chest for several days while waiting for a plastic surgeon to do an operation that pulled my chest muscles over my sternum to hold it together. I'm currently on intravenous antibiotics twice a day and will be for the next 5 weeks or so. Oh and I still have 2 drain tubes sticking out of my stomach and 28 staples in my chest.
Contracted the infection while in the hospital and the surgeon did nothing for weeks after the surgery although he knew damn well I had it. I had a freaking open wound on mu chest that was dripping pus for weeks.
2021 sucks the big one so far
