The day was worthwhile, got to rescue the neighbor's oldest daughter. Knocked on the door and said she needed help, a tire went flat as she pulled in the driveway, both Parents out of town, no friends available, had to be somewhere this afternoon. Lucky girl, it wasn't just a flat tire, left front was rubbing the strut, wore a groove around the sidewall just below the tread and finally wore the cord enough it blew out a small hole. Bet it would have been a rip if she'd been at highway speeds. She was going to a nearby Discount Tire to get a new one after I showed her the tire was trash, and I told her to make sure they figured out why the tire was rubbing, Something's wrong, bent rim, suspension damage, couldn't tell just jacking it up enough in the driveway to change the wheel. Nice kid, known her since before she learned to walk. After she left, then I thought I should have put the wheel back on, spun it to see if it was warped. Tire place should be able to figure it out. I'll talk to the Dad when he gets back, make sure it's fixed.

I had that thought, too, but they're stock cheap steel rims on some kind of small Ford, just a 4 stud wheel, not a lot of offset. The other side clears ok with the same wheel and tire. I wonder if she could have run it with low pressure and it bulged enough to rub, no way to know after it won't hold any pressure.
