I had the same problem with bathroom and kitchen plumbing in my house, didn't match any connector, pipe or thread size in hardware stores. Maybe the builder got a deal on some Albanian surplus... Easiest thing to do, and what I did in my house, is just cut out all the original crap and install new standard off the Home Depot shelf stuff, no fitting complications. She admits what she did to get those two things working will have to come back out to do it right. New is often easier than repair, and plumbing isn't expensive enough to fight it like that. Just like me, she's quite familiar with the school of hard knocks.
