TOAK, The Thread of All Knowledge Part XIII
Evenin Woods, I’m beat. Trish cracked the whip on me today, insisting I get working on her kitchen backsplash. It’s only 18 lineal feet, 27 square feet, but it has a top and bottom row of 6”X6” tiles and a field tile running down the middle. The field tiles started as 1’X1’ scallops but all had to be cut into 5 5/8” strips and a bunch of little pieces to fill in. To add to the challenge the upper kitchen cabinets change elevation by 1/8” and the grout joints are smallish.

A drought buster showed up today, really got soaked, looks like the mower will do what it was designed for next week. Neighbor (the best one) asked to borrow my 10' trailer, said yes, and a few minutes later it started raining before I could get it unloaded (was going to leave yesterday's purchase in it till I used it). Remembered I have a Frogg Toggs outfit, suited up, finished unloading, towed it to the street with the mower and stayed dry. The neighbor didn't. Stay dry, that is.

Halito Woods..... well this day is over. Rain like hell this morning. Got to daughters for the open house and it was humid, sprinkled, rained, windy...then relatively nice. Wind pretty much blew the wet off my awnings, so we started taking them down. Most everyone had left by then, and it was only grammas, grampas, aunts, uncles, cousins..... they could hang in garage. Got all the awnings down and brought tables and chairs in then it dumped. Rained like hell. Then weather sirens went off, tornado watches turned into tornado warnings.... whew! Everything went around us. Couple of suspected tornados and local tv channel was all weather for couple hours. Home now, nice and quiet, more storms coming through tonight. But they had some pretty decent weather for the open house. Glad that's done with. Got another one next year......
