I remembrer the first time I paid $60 for a beer. It was in a club in Rome, Italy. A friend and I were hiking around when we found ourselves in this really swell club with some really swell females from all over the world. It was in the middle of the afternoon and we were the only patrons. The lovelies were from all over the world, Asia, Australia, even the US. They found us interesting because we were such a contrast to their normal patrons. A couple came over and chatted and explained their job. Apparently really rich guys from all over the world would pour in every evening and it was their job to make sure they felt welcome and kept the register ringing. Needless to say they were lookers of the highest level. If I recall they not only worked in Rome but also travled a circuit that included other similar cities, Paris, London, etc. Not sure how we ended up in that place but we did. I ordered a beer and it was $6. It was a German beer and if recall correctly they only had the one brand of beer. A cocktail was $8. This was 1978 so that was pricey. Of course I've paid more for a cup of beer at an NFL game since.
Eavning all. Not much to report.
Looking forward to our Montana trip next week.
Also going to be 4runner shopping. Any negotiating tips for buying a new car?
