Let me toss another route - cut over on 29 at Little Suamico. It's a much faster route that I have taken many times. There are far more dining opportunities and far less braking opportunities (stop lights). And best of all, you could get your parts at Doc's just east of Shawano. They have a great restaurant and a really cool car and bike museum. It's a destination for many visitors.

And if Doc's doesn't have it I could see if my dealer does. I'm going today anyway. Just tossing that out there. As you can tell, I'm not at all a fan of that route Google has you on. And I enjoy a nice scenic drive. It's just plain boring.

PS - I know that takes you through the Twin Cities, but I've taken that southern bypass and on a weekend it's easy going in my experience.
That was the route I was going to go but Stan said to avoid 94/494 like the plague.

Agree on 29 Bob , Docs HD is really a cool stop.

Chuck, Twin Cities 94\494 traffic on the weekend won't be too ugly. Taking 169 S to 60 is the route we usually take - 169 is scenic, 60 not so much. You'll see a lot of "not so much" before you get to the Hills when you get to southern MN and across SD.

Chuck is taking the scenic, scenic route ... I'll sometimes go across 2 ( Michigan ) pick up 8 ( Wisconsin ) loop around Minneapolis and then head west on 14 or sometimes take 34 into Sturgis

I have a supporting vote from a former Minnesotan here Chuck!

I guess it really depends on your timing. I've never really had issues on the bypass. But I would imagine at rush hour on a Friday evening it could get ugly. Might still be worth it versus the alphabet roads though. I'm telling you, you'll be like "WTF? Where the heck are we??"

calling Docs HD in ten minutes to see if they have my parts. And yes we would be going through Twin city Friday, maybe not rush hour, probably later.

You can speed up when you hit I-90 in SD.

I think it is all relative and certainly a matter of timing. I'm a down home country boy and I hate slow traffic. Others here are used to a different pace and what sucks for me may not suck for them as much. LOL
My comments were only an opinion Chuck so best of luck whichever route you decide my friend !
