When the birds sing on Sunday I'm rolling. I should get to HC by 6PM. Hopefully I don't have a headwind. That eats gas fast at 80 MPH.

I’m shooting for Appleton HD before they close on Friday then see how far we can get west before overnighting.

Say hello to Craig while you're there.
My boss at work is from there as well.

I looked at the route and I'm surprised Google Maps has you going that way. From Appleton all the way to the Mississippi will be a tedious drive. It's all country driving, so not stressful. But it's 55MPH the whole way and a ton of small towns to drive through. They even have you on what we call the "Alphabet Roads" (County roads). That is some rural stuff. You'll get to know central Wisconsin very well.

That said, the alternative, taking I-80, actually shaves a few minutes according to the map. But then you get to deal with the corridor south of Chicago which can be busy. It also adds 80 miles, but all at 70 MPH vs 55.

This is all true, but we are a day ahead of schedule. As it is , I believe we will be staying the night in Rapid City (Saturday) because the house is available after noon Sunday.
