The back rest on my stock Indian set up was difficult and drove me crazy a couple of times. I would wrestle with that thing for 10 minutes, get frustrated, walk away and then it would go in easy as pie. Reminded me of something they used to say about things like that when I was a kid, "you have to hold your mouth just right".

Just my luck...find a truck ya like and it has lousy tires.
