TOAK, The Thread of All Knowledge Part XIII
Hey, Denny, MarCUZ.....when I was building the 280Z Roadster by cutting the top and hatch off a '76 Datsun , I had to do a lot of sheet metal fabrication. This was about 12yrs ago. I bought almost every pneumatic tool they had, most of which was under $20 with coupons. I just counted 12 different tools. I used them a lot and not a single one ever failed. The key was two drops of air tool oil at the beginning of the day. two years ago when I was doing the front yard from hell, I had to change the heights of the water valve and gas valve curb boxes that were set in 5 " of concrete. I easily would have been there over a day with the tools I had.I went to HF with my wife and bought a SDS Rotary hammer Drill, bits and chisel set and a 8" grinder for $160 with coupons. I had a 9" diamond blade. I had the job done in 45 minutes. Tools worked flawlessly.
Another part of the project was pavers for sidewalks that required a lot of cuts. I checked with two rental places and they wanted over a $100/day for a wet saw rental. A mason friend of mine told me to buy the "better" one from HF. Got it on sale for a little over $200 . I bought a $150 diamond blade from one of my suppliers for $60. I used the hell out of that saw for the pavers, stone on two sets of steps and front of my garages. Again, the tools worked perfectly. For the every day handyman, you can't beat they're stuff.
