TOAK, The Thread of All Knowledge Part XIII
Glad it wasn't worse, Lou. See, getting older and driving in the slow lane does have benefits....

Thanks Marcus. Yea Mick doing 65 in the slow lane helps. Its always crazy the amount of tire smoke you get doing a 360 on the freeway. Just glad I saw it and could swerve. Needles to say I didnt need much coffee this morning. This is the first deer ive hit. Had a few close calls though.

Lou, sorry to hear that deer got in your way. Fact of life up here in the North
In CA, do you now get a call from the Animal Rights people ? Ooooffff.

That's about all it takes. I did not do anything I don't do all the time, just go to get up, BAM. It is a lot better today. I iced it down hard as soon as I did it and kept it cold until I went to sleep. I am wearing the brace today and it helps a lot. I got invited to shoot clays tomorrow and based on how I feel today I accepted. Orange flavored Goody powder is my friend.

Watching the kids on the phone via security camera for a few minutes while I'm upstairs on the 'puter.
The bike looks good in that light. My best day was just over 700 miles, 9 hours plus or minus a few minutes. Back in the 55 mph days, had to keep the speed down.
Was like that here for a while yesterday. I think it was two years ago we had a few inches of white on the ground till mid May, two accumulating storms in May, wood prefer that doesn't happen again.
Granddaughter is a tv addict, she hasn't moved in that chair since I came up here. I'm getting hungry, time to fix a couple hotdogs for me (liable to burn me food trying to actually cook while they're here) and oatmeal with blueberries for her, she asked for that and ice cream for lunch (maybe later). If she was here more often she'd learn to eat real food with meat. The little guy will get oatmeal since I'm fixing it for her, he eats most stuff, only grandkid so far that would ever do that; first two have been really picky about food. Maybe they'd eat peas, I should get some.

For a few weeks I had trouble getting up from sitting, but was knees, not back. Didn't hurt a lot, mostly got real weak. Wonder if that was a vaccine side effect. Got almost back to normal this past week, and then tweaked the left knee yesterday, didn't lose strength but there's a bit of pain getting up now. Never feel 100% anymore. Just hope my back never gets as bad again as it was almost 3 years in my mid 50s. Mick, I know it really sucks for you. I had a brief spell where I had to roll out of bed onto my hands and knees on the floor first, and slowly make my way up, the lower back would just freeze while sleeping, couldn't even come close to sitting up, even when rolling onto my side. Seems odd to feel better now than 20 years ago, but retirement and living mostly alone has sure improved life. You can skip the home alone part, not for everyone, but I'd bet retirement will be a big improvement for you, too.
No but wife drove where I hit the deer. Dead deer and a nice double black figure 8 on the freeway.
