Yup, that there is the truth. Lots of people are overloaded. Just because the vehicle CAN do it, it’s not rated for it. Up here it’s half tons with sled decks with two sleds. Box is full of gear, jerry cans etc. Screams Stop me up here lol.
The 16 foot bumper pull I got falls within my 1/2 ton rating, but I know I won't be charging up hills with it. 1400lbs more than the open top I pulled to the Hills last summer; that little rig pulled fine with just the sporty on it, but I could have 3500lbs above that with the cargo trailer. Doubt my total tow load would ever reach 5000lbs. Still, I'll keep an eye out for a dual cab 2500 series as a replacement for the van that's probably going to die the salt death any year now. People used to pull loads bigger than that with 6 cylinder half tons and no axle brakes. I can remember following them up hills on two roads at 15mph...

I've had pain meds a few times, never take them all so usually have a few on hand if needed.

Hard to avoid sometimes. I've been put under at least 5 times, once with just local. Fair bit of cutting with the local, just looked somewhere else till it got covered up. Seen enough other people's innards, don't need to see mine.
I got a trailer hitch scale, too. Not going to fool around guessing on tongue weight, seen too many trailers weaving behind the tow vehicle, don't want to do that. Wouldn't know how to guess something like 446 lbs anyway.
