Whipped up some jalapeño poppers this evening, put tomorrows’s brisket in the smoker. At 19 pounds, it’s gonna take a while. Enjoying a frosty Bohemia on the porch.

Evening, Russ and Chuck.

Went by the soft opening on of the new and improved Crystal Bar. I played in the house band there for about 7 years every Thursday night. The place burned down close to 3 years ago. I remember I was in the Blue Ridge Mountains at Lover's Leap. We had stopped for a short rest when my phone rang and it was a friend letting me know the place was on fire. It was the second oldest still operating business in Zephyrhills Florida with the first being Moody's Hardware. The joke was they bought all the materials to build the Crystal at Moody's in the 50's. A buddy of mine and bass player for a short stint with The Tonebenders was playing there with his band. It was good to see a lot of familiar faces. We moved from Zhills in January last year. They tore it completely down and rebuilt a beautiful two story high joint back in it's place. Although there is no second floor but it's tall enough for one. It's like a warehouse in there. Now the third generation is poised to start managing and running the place.

The first song the band played was "Caught In A Trap". I was not expecting that but it sounded awesome. We stayed for three songs and hit the door. I need some sleep. Out.......

Feeding the neighbors too. They always cook when I’m out of town for Kristi so it’s the least I can do.
