TOAK, The Thread of All Knowledge Part XIII
Eavning Greg and the rest of y'all.
My friend just bought a 99 road king with 40,000 for $4,200. I had him open the cam chest. Tensioners about 40% worn. Other than that it's a nice bike except it's purple.

Is he gonna go with gear drive cams?
Evening SpringWoods.
Hydroworld was basically insane today. This time of year is the contractors that neglected to do pump and motor maintenance/replacement until now, and they realise they will be on the job in 3 weeks. Then I get to tell them their parts or units have a 6 or 8 or 10 to 13 weeks lead time.... so it makes me very popular......NOT!
Bag guard install tonight. These little pipes have saved my butt once or twice in the past.

A question for the Woods, I’ve done a lot of brake jobs but I’ve never tried this method of bleeding them . Since I don’t have my “ mighty vac down here in Florida, what do you think of this method ?.

One thing about living on a fixed income, live too long and your pension won't be much more than grocery money and a tent. I bet my airline pay would have easily bought a nice home in that area when I started in '73, today, at today's airline mechanic pay, wouldn't come close to average. A friend was breaking $100K with a little overtime at Delta a couple years before he retired, but by itself, that won't buy a $700,00 house.
Nope. He is trying to keep it as cheap as possible at the moment. His cams had a little discoloration and should be changed at some point. He went with Cyo tensioner pads but got the wrong cam bearings as there was a bearing chang late in 99. He did not go with adjustable push rods and chose to go through the valve covers instead. He is coming off a dual sport. His first cruiser.
Stan, I fought our the hard way that my bag bars don’t protect my new bike the way they did the King . The tips of my new 4.5 “ slip ons touch.
